Work out actual flight duration from your ticket's departure and arrival times, correctly accounting for the time zone difference between the two airports. A flight departing Karachi at 2:00pm PKT and arriving Dubai at 4:30pm UAE time looks like a 2.5-hour trip on the ticket, but after adjusting for the 1-hour time difference between the two zones, the actual flight duration is closer to 3.5 hours.

How to use Flight Time Calculator

Step-by-step guide to the boxes below. Open it only if you need help.

  1. 1
    Departure time Time

The local departure time written on your ticket.

  2. 2
    Departure timezone (UTC offset) Number

The UTC offset of the departure city. Pakistan is 5, New York is -5.

    Example: 5

  3. 3
    Arrival time Time

The local arrival time written on your ticket.

  4. 4
    Arrival timezone (UTC offset) Number

The UTC offset of the arrival city, for example -5 for New York.

    Example: -5

  5. 5
    Press “Calculate flight time”

Click the button under the boxes. If something is missing or not valid, a short message tells you which box to fix.

  6. 6
    Read your result

You see the real flight duration, with the time-zone difference taken into account. Change any box and try again to compare different numbers.

Overnight flights (arrival time earlier than departure) are handled automatically — 24 hours is added to the result whenever it would otherwise come out negative.

Flight Time Calculator FAQs

Where do I find the UTC offset for a timezone?
Search "[city name] UTC offset" — e.g. Pakistan is UTC+5, New York is UTC-5 (or UTC-4 during daylight saving).
Does it handle overnight flights automatically?
It adds 24 hours automatically if the raw result comes out negative, so overnight flights are handled correctly.
Why do I need timezone offsets instead of just subtracting clock times?
Departure and arrival times are in different local timezones — subtracting the clock times directly without adjusting for that gives the wrong duration.
Where do I find my flight's departure and arrival times?
Check your ticket or boarding pass — both times are usually shown in local time for each respective airport.
