What is lateral (side) area?
The area of the curved side surface only, not including the two flat circular ends. Total surface area is the lateral area plus both ends.
What units do I use?
Any unit works as long as radius and height are in the same one. Volume comes out in that unit cubed, and area in that unit squared.
What is the formula for the volume of a cylinder?
Volume = π × r² × h. A radius of 3 and a height of 10 gives about 282.7.
How do I calculate the total surface area?
2πr² + 2πrh, which is the two circular ends plus the curved side.
