Sphere Calculator FAQs

What is the formula for a sphere's volume?
Volume = (4÷3)πr³. It grows with the cube of the radius, so doubling the radius makes the volume eight times bigger.
How does surface area compare to volume?
Surface area = 4πr², which grows with the square of the radius. That is why larger spheres have proportionally less surface area for their volume than smaller ones.
What is the volume of a sphere?
V = 4/3 × π × r³. A radius of 3 gives about 113.1.
What is the surface area of a sphere?
A = 4 × π × r². A radius of 3 gives about 113.1.
