Add VAT/GST on top of an amount, or extract the tax already included in a total — switch modes depending on whether your figure is tax-exclusive or tax-inclusive. Adding 15% VAT to a PKR 1,000 net price gives PKR 1,150, while extracting VAT that's already baked into a PKR 1,150 total gives back the same PKR 1,000 net figure and PKR 150 tax amount.

Amount Number
Type the amount you are working with. First decide: is this before tax, or does it already include tax? You will tell the tool in the Mode box.
Example: 1000

Rate % Number
The VAT or GST rate that applies in your country, as a number such as 15.
Example: 15

Mode Choose one
Pick 'Add' if your amount has no tax yet and you want the total with tax. Pick 'Extract' if your amount already includes tax and you want to know how much of it is tax.

Press “Calculate”
Click the button under the boxes. If something is missing or not valid, a short message tells you which box to fix.

Read your result
You see the net amount, the tax and the total. Change any box and try again to compare different numbers.
